  • Education & Boating Safety Courses

Boat Ed is the only place on the Web where you can study the official boating safety manual developed specifically for your state government's boating agency. After studying the course material and taking an online boater exam, students who pass will receive their official boater education certification. You can be certain that the boating certification card you receive for passing the online boating test will be recognized by the officers on the waterways.

Boat Ed Offers Four Ways to Learn

        * Online boating safety courses with official boater certification tests
        * Home-study video and DVD boating education courses
        * Official state boater safety handbooks
        * Information about classroom boat safety classes

To learn more about Boating Safety Courses and Online Tests for Your Boat License or Boater Safety Certification click here.

  • Michigan Handbook of Boating Laws and Responsibliities

    Boat Ed
The Handbook of Michigan Boating Laws and Responsibilities
defines the basics of boating, laws and regulations, navigation rules, weather emergencies, encountering other vessels and much more. Safe navigation on Michigan waterways is the responsibility of everyone.

This handbook is published by Boat Ed, the official provider of Michigan's boating safety course. Although this handbook is a convenient reference tool, students wanting to receive official Michigan boating safety certification would benefit from studying Boat Ed's comprehensive boat safety course, with chapter-by-chapter review questions and a free Practice Test.

  • Seaworthy

Seaworthy Magazine, a publication dedicated to safe and trouble-free boating, is published quarterly by the BoatUS Marine Insurance Damage Avoidance Program, and is mailed free to all BoatUS insureds. It is also available by subscription to boat owners outside of the Association's Marine Insurance program. The cost is $10 per year for 4 issues. With each issue, you'll learn how to avoid potential problems by reading about real insurance claims. Its pages are filled with case studies that provide insight into how to avoid accidents, breakdowns, injuries and the "unexpected" circumstances that can jeopardize the safety of your boat and guests. Click on the title link above for a free copy.   Access special interest reprints at their website. Check out a sample on winterizing your boat with one click.

In a recent newsletter, Commodore Gary Posluszny provided members with the Boat US Cooperating Group ID for St. Clair Yacht Club members. If you need the Group Number, please send an email and let us know and we will reply with that information.

Please consider sharing cruise and event photos and stories. Contact us at communications@stcyc.org
